JAKARTA, OborDewata.com – The Government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) , has announced that PT PLN (Persero)’s electricity tariffs for the third quarter (July – September period) of 2026 will remain unchanged. This policy aims to maintain national economic stability amidst global dynamics.

Minister of ESDM, Bahlil Lahadalia, emphasized that this decision reflects the Government’s commitment to protecting public purchasing power, supporting industrial competitiveness, and providing certainty for businesses.

”To protect the public’s purchasing power and support national economic stability, the government has decided that the electricity tariff for Q3 2026 will remain flat and will not increase,” Bahlil explained.

According to the Minister of ESDM Regulation Number 7 of 2024, tariff adjustments for 13 non-subsidized customer categories are technically evaluated every three months based on four macroeconomic parameters: the Rupiah exchange rate, the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and the Reference Coal Price (HBA).

For the third quarter of 2026, the parameters used were based on actual figures from February – April 2026, which recorded an exchange rate of Rp16,959.32 per USD, an ICP of USD96.12 per barrel, an inflation rate of 0.21 percent, and an HBA of USD70 per ton (in accordance with the coal Domestic Market Obligation/DMO policy). Although the formula indicated potential tariff adjustments, the Government decided to hold prices steady to maintain national economic stability.

Bahlil added that apart from non-subsidized customers, this policy also applies to 24 subsidized customer categories, ensuring no tariff changes for social institutions, low-income households, small businesses, small industries, as well as Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

”The government is committed to providing reliable, affordable, and equitable electricity. This flat-tariff policy is part of our efforts to maintain economic stability while ensuring the sustainability of electricity services,” Bahlil said.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, stated that as the Government’s extended arm, PLN is fully prepared to implement the Q3 2026 electricity tariff policy. The company remains dedicated to delivering a reliable power supply and continuously improving the quality of its electrical services for the public.

”We highly appreciate the Government’s step to keep electricity tariffs stable for the third quarter of 2026 and are ready to execute this policy. PLN is committed to maintaining power supply reliability and service quality, so that the impact of the Government’s policy can be directly felt by the wider community and serve as a driving force for the domestic economy,” Darmawan remarked. mas/sathya
