Kuta Becomes a Major Challenge, Voter Participation in the 2024 Badung Regional Election Reaches Only 78%

BADUNG, OborDewata.com – Although voter participation in the 2024 Badung Regional Election reached a relatively high 78.1%, this figure is still far from the ambitious target of 90%. Several districts, such as Abian Semal and Mengwi, almost met the target, but Kuta remains the main focus due to its low participation. North Kuta recorded 74%, West Kuta only 64%, and Kuta itself was at 62%. This situation makes Kuta a major challenge in increasing voter participation in future elections.

The Chairman of the Badung General Elections Commission (KPU), I Gusti Ketut Gede Yusa Arsana Putra, emphasized the importance of special attention to two villages with the lowest participation, namely Jimbaran. “It is hoped that these areas will receive more attention so that voter participation increases in the next regional election,” he stated during an open plenary meeting for the vote count recap of the 2024 Bali Governor and Deputy Governor, as well as Badung Regent and Deputy Regent elections, held at Harris Hotel, Sunset Road, on Wednesday (Dec 4, 2024).

Nevertheless, Arsana acknowledged the role of the media and the public in supporting the socialization of the election. He also added that in the future, the Badung KPU is determined to increase voter participation to uphold the spirit of democracy in Badung Regency. ga/nda/sathya
