DENPASAR, OborDewata.com – Following the Australian government’s advisory urging its citizens not to travel to Bali due to a high number of dengue fever cases, the Chairman of the Bali Tourism Board (BTB), Ida Bagus Agung Partha Adnyana (Gus Agung), has clarified the situation.
According to Gus Agung, based on the latest data from the Bali Provincial Health Office, the Indonesian Hospital Association (PERSI) Bali, and the Bali Chapter of the Indonesian Medical Tourism Association, dengue fever cases do occur annually, particularly during the rainy season. This year, there has been an increase in cases compared to last year. However, dengue fever in Bali remains under control.
“The government and healthcare authorities in Bali have managed every case in accordance with national treatment standards, ensuring no significant impact on the healthcare system. Hospital occupancy rates across Bali also remain within the normal range,” said Gus Agung on Thursday (12/12/2024).
To ensure the safety and comfort of tourists, the government has issued precautionary advisories to all healthcare units and provided guidelines for residents and visitors to take preventive measures. The BTB has recommended that tourists consider receiving a dengue fever vaccination before traveling.
The public is also encouraged to increase awareness of their surroundings, particularly by maintaining cleanliness in areas that could potentially serve as mosquito breeding grounds.
“Bali remains a safe destination, and we are fully committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of all tourists. We encourage travelers to stay calm, follow the recommended preventive measures, and enjoy an extraordinary holiday experience in Bali,” he stated.
“Through collaboration between the health and tourism sectors, we are confident that Bali is ready to welcome tourists responsibly and warmly,” he concluded. ri/nda/sathya
