DENPASAR, OborDewata.com – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Kemenekraf/Bekraf) has proposed an additional 2025 budget of IDR 2.42 trillion. The ministry explained that this request aims to implement programs aligned with the government’s priority targets.

Minister/Head of Kemenekraf, Teuku Riefky Harsya, during a working meeting with Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Wednesday (December 4, 2024), stated that the additional budget is necessary as the currently available budget for next year is only IDR 279.61 billion.

“This is insufficient to meet the needs for executing the government’s priority programs outlined in Asta Cita and the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN),” said Teuku Riefky.

He further explained that the additional budget of IDR 2,422,556,275,000 is crucial to support Indonesia’s economic growth target of 8%. Moreover, as a new ministry, Kemenekraf/Bekraf must ensure that public services continue uninterrupted.

“Public services cannot stop, especially in serving stakeholders across 17 subsectors. Adequate infrastructure is also needed for this new ministry,” he added.

Teuku Riefky outlined the flagship programs of Kemenekraf/Bekraf, which are categorized into four clusters. The first cluster focuses on the master plan for creative economy development, which involves regulatory frameworks, cross-ministry/agency data synchronization, and collaboration with industry players.

The second cluster emphasizes internal consolidation, including strengthening bureaucratic reform, human resource capacity development, and reinforcing the ministry’s identity as a new entity. The third cluster introduces programs aimed at job creation and enhancing the capacity of creative economy actors through key programs.

“This cluster includes strengthening all value chains, from creation, production, promotion, marketing, distribution, to consumption,” he explained.

The fourth cluster aims to position the creative economy as “the new engine of growth.” “This cluster includes programs to develop the creative economy sector by providing intellectual property protection, improving the welfare of creative economy actors, and enhancing competitive infrastructure for the sector,” he said.

Responding to the proposal, the Deputy Chairperson of Commission VII DPR RI, Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo, who chaired the meeting, approved the additional budget request from Kemenekraf/Bekraf. Thus, the total 2025 budget for Kemenekraf/Bekraf now stands at IDR 2,702,162,773,000.

“Commission VII urges the Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency to engage with the Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN/Bappenas), the Ministry of Finance, and the President to secure this additional budget for 2025,” said Sara.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of Bekraf, Irene Umar, along with several senior officials from Kemenekraf/Bekraf. ri/nda/sathya
