DENPASAR, OborDewata.com – As the 2024 Christmas and New Year 2025 holidays approach, the Head of Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, predicts a 20% increase in tourist arrivals compared to the previous year, 2023.
“It’s expected to increase by about 20% because Bali is perceived as a comfortable and safe tourist destination, with cultural tourism still being the main attraction,” he explained on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
He also responded to the news of a 10% reduction in domestic flight ticket prices during the 2024-2025 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) period. The ticket price reduction of approximately Rp 157,000 will apply at 19 airports across Indonesia, including I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali. Tjok Pemayun said this is great news that everyone has been waiting for.
“This is welcome news for the public, especially regarding flight ticket prices that have not been affordable. This price reduction will not only benefit the tourism sector, but also the broader economy, which is expected to grow again,” he added.
Regarding the anticipated traffic congestion that occurred last year, he mentioned that coordination with the Transportation Department (Dishub) has already been carried out. “Dishub will share the steps to address this, as they handle traffic management. We will coordinate with them to ensure that we don’t face the same problems as last year,” he continued.
Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Yudhoyono (AHY), stated that the reduction in flight ticket prices is the result of collaborative efforts and incentives involving various parties over the past two weeks to ensure that tickets are more affordable for the public.
The price reduction will apply at 19 major airports across Indonesia from December 19, 2024, to January 3, 2025. The government hopes that this policy will have a positive impact both on the public and on the economy in general. ri/nda/sathya
