DENPASAR, OborDewata.com – The Bali National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has prepared its personnel and main rescue equipment in various areas ahead of the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 holidays.
This readiness was revealed by the Head of Bali National Search and Rescue Agency, I Nyoman Sidakarya, during the ‘Ops Lilin Agung 2024′ Troop Roll Call at Puputan Margarana Niti Mandala Field, Denpasar, on Friday, December 20, 2024. The areas prioritized for National Search and Rescue Agency’ preparedness include Karangasem, Buleleng, Badung, and Jembrana.
“Including the Search and Rescue ships stationed in Benoa, we have prepared everything. We are now officially on alert for Christmas and New Year, with participation from the Police Chief, The Bali National Search and Rescue Agency Chief, and the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). Hopefully, Bali remains safe and comfortable for both domestic and international tourists,” explained Sidakarya.
Regarding maritime tourism, Sidakarya mentioned that areas such as Kuta, South Kuta, and other city attractions are being closely monitored in collaboration with related stakeholders. In Kuta, Bali National Search and Rescue Agency has provided jet skis, while in Benoa, rescue boats such as a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) are stationed at designated posts. On land, trucks have been deployed as part of the rescue preparations.
Compared to last year’s Christmas and New Year (Nataru) season, Sidakarya noted that there are no significant differences in readiness efforts. A 24/7 alert system remains in effect, along with public outreach to inform residents about contacting the emergency hotline at 115 in case of incidents.
“Our readiness isn’t just for Nataru; Bali National Search and Rescue Agency is fully prepared year-round, with trained personnel and resources for land, sea, and air operations, including drones. We don’t currently have a helicopter, but we’ve coordinated with stakeholders to ensure all resources are available,” he elaborated.
Regarding personnel deployment at ports and airports, Bali National Search and Rescue Agency will maintain operations from December 18, 2024, to January 5, 2025, involving 127 team members.
“We urge both domestic and international tourists to exercise caution when visiting beaches, waterfalls, or other maritime attractions during this rainy season. We hope there won’t be any unwanted incidents,” he concluded. ri/nda/sathya
